Renewable energy from running water

HOW TO OBTAIN HYDROELECTRIC ENERGY FROM SLOW FLOW RIVERS WITH LOW DECLINE?

Deepwater Energy BV developed the Oryon Watermill, a simple, but highly effective hydropower station which will, with low rpm, generate a profitable capacity of sustainable energy in slow flowing rivers with low decline with currents as of 1 m/

sec.

The Oryon Watermill is applicable in 60% of the rivers worldwide. It can easily be placed in the river and only needs a foundation on the bottom. No dams or other construction elements are needed.

The station generates 100% clean, sustainable and renewable energy, whereby the ecological balance will not be disturbed. It is an environmental/technical impeccable design which uses the natural free current of water.

The Oryon Watermill can be placed in salt or fresh and warm or cold water. It can

also be positioned in sea currents, tidal currents and forced currents as in pumps, locks and blow downs.

It can be delivered in a small, medium and large version and will be adjusted to the circumstances of the installed location.

HYDROELECTRIC POWER : NON-UTILIZED SOLUTION FOR ENERGY

Global agreements are stressing the need to move from CO2 emitting power stations and replace them gradually by clean, durable forms of energy.

At least 66 countries, including 27 EU countries, have renewable energy policy targets of some type to source specific proportions of total electricity sales from renewable energy sources following a set timeframe. Worldwide the vast majority of energy is still generated by (expensive) fossil, polluting energy like coal, gas, oil or uranium.

An important reason for this is the high costs of current renewable energy solutions. To accomplish the agreed targets there is an urgent requirement to invest in relatively low-cost durable options.

Most of the worldwide funds for clean energy are spend on solar- and wind power. Hydropower in delta rivers is hardly utilized although hydropower, unlike solar and wind-energy, is continuously available. When speaking of hydropower energy one usually thinks of natural differences in altitude, like in Norway or France. The operation of the Oryon Watermill is based on the momentum of running water. The Oryon Watermill is an unique, patented concept and the first in history to be able to generate so many KW with a free current hydropower plant.

BENEFITS OF THE ORYON WATERMILL

  • Affordable alternative for fossile energy and clean energy thanks to relatively low cost of material, production and maintenance;
  • Can be placed in rivers, sea currents, tidal currents, forced currents (weir and sluice) and Smart Grid applications in currents from 1 m/sec upward;
  • Operates completely submerged, will not take up much space and is therefore applicable in shipping routes;
  • Environmentally and ecologically advantages because of low rpm, compact construction and therefore no negative influence to flora and fauna and no landscape pollution;
  • Custom calibrated to local situation and circumstances. A sober design together with a simple manufacturing, largely free of maintenance and a lifetime of minimal 25 years;
  • Suitable for local and national applications.
